About North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology

North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) is a deemed-to-be university and an autonomous institute under the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, located at Nirjuli on the outskirts of Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. NERIST was set up to serve the technical education needs of the eight North-Eastern states.

NERIST offers a unique three-tier programme structure — Certificate (after Class 10), Diploma (after Class 12) and Degree (B.Tech / B.Sc / BBA) — through three levels of the NERIST Entrance Examination: NEE-I (after Class 10), NEE-II (after Class 12, in PCM Engineering / PCM Science / PCB Forestry / BBA streams) and NEE-III (lateral entry for diploma holders into B.Tech).

NEE 2026 was conducted on 25 and 26 April 2026 by NERIST. The 2026-27 admission notification, seat matrix and counselling schedule are published on the official portals at nerist.ac.in and neeonline.ac.in.

NEE 2026 (NEE-I / II / III)

The NERIST Entrance Examination (NEE) is conducted by NERIST at three levels — NEE-I (admission to Certificate course after Class 10), NEE-II (admission to Diploma after Class 12 in PCM Engineering / PCB Forestry / PCM Science / BBA streams) and NEE-III (lateral admission to B.Tech for diploma holders). NEE 2026 was conducted on 25 and 26 April 2026.

Eligibility

NEE-I: Pass in Class 10 / equivalent. NEE-II: 10+2 / equivalent in PCM (engineering / sciences), PCB (forestry) or any stream (BBA). NEE-III: 3-year diploma in engineering / equivalent in the relevant branch with minimum 60% (or as prescribed). M.Tech: B.Tech / B.E. with valid GATE score; MBA: graduation with valid CAT score; Ph.D: Master's with UGC-prescribed aggregate.

    Register on neeonline.ac.in, fill the application, upload documents and pay the application fee for the relevant level.

    Appear for NEE
    NEE 2026 was a 2-day paper-based test on 25-26 April 2026. Download admit card from neeonline.ac.in (released 14 April onwards for NEE 2026).

    Counselling and admission
    Qualified candidates participate in NERIST web counselling, exercise programme / branch options and confirm seat allotment by reporting to the Nirjuli campus.

Reservations

NERIST is dedicated to North Eastern States: a fixed share of seats is reserved across the eight NE states (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura). Plus SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC-NCL 27%, EWS 10% as per Central institution norms; PwBD 5% horizontal.
