About Assam Science & Technology University

Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU) is a state technical university located in Guwahati, Assam, established by the Assam Science and Technology University Act, 2009 of the Assam Legislative Assembly. ASTU functions as the affiliating university for engineering, technical and polytechnic colleges across Assam.

ASTU conducts the Combined Entrance Examination (CEE) — popularly known as Assam CEE — for B.Tech 1st Semester admission across affiliated engineering colleges in the state. Eligibility requires Indian citizenship, valid Assam Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC), and a single-sitting 10+2 with PCM and English (45% General / 40% Reserved).

Assam CEE 2026 is scheduled for 14 June 2026 (11:00 AM - 2:00 PM) across nine centres — Bongaigaon, Dibrugarh, Guwahati, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Nalbari, Silchar and Tezpur. Online application ran 16 March - 3 April 2026 with a fee of ₹1500. Counselling and admission are handled by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Assam.

Eligibility

Indian citizenship plus Assam Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC). 10+2 in a single sitting with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English; minimum 45% in PCM (40% reserved). Lateral entry to B.Tech: 3-year diploma in engineering with prescribed aggregate.

   DTE counselling and admission
   DTE Assam conducts the centralised online counselling. Lock seat by paying admission fee at the allotted engineering college.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for eligible candidates at this university.

Assam CMSS / Pragyan Bharati scholarship for high scorers, North-East Region scholarships, SC/ST/OBC/EWS post-matric scholarships and DTE merit awards.

Reservations

Assam state reservation: SC 7%, ST(P) 10%, ST(H) 5%, OBC/MOBC 27%, EWS 10%; PwBD 5% horizontal. Assam PRC mandatory for state-quota seats.
