About Assam Women’s University

Assam Women's University (AWU) is a state women's university located at Jorhat in Upper Assam, established by the Assam Women's University Act, 2013 of the Assam Legislative Assembly. AWU is the only women's university in the North-East and offers UG, PG, Diploma and PG Diploma programmes exclusively for women.

AWU offers programmes including BA Psychology (4-year), BPT, BFT, Diploma in Indian Culture and Garment Manufacturing Technology, PGDCA, MA, MFT, MCA, MBA, MTTM and M.Lib.I.Sc. Admission is conducted through the Assam Women's University Entrance Test (AWUET) — a written test for all UG and PG programmes — with Group Discussion and Personal Interview added for MBA and MA in Mass Communication.

The 2026-27 admission notification is released on awu.ac.in. Programme fees for 2025-26 ranged from ₹12,000 to ₹1.11 lakh, with UG between ₹25,698 and ₹66,690 and PG between ₹33,030 and ₹41,990.

Conducted by Assam Women's University

The Assam Women's University Entrance Test (AWUET) is conducted by AWU for admission to all UG and PG programmes. For MBA and MA in Mass Communication, the university adds Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds alongside the written test.

Eligibility

UG (BPT, BA Psychology, BFT etc.): 10+2 from a recognised board with the prescribed subject combination; AWUET. PG (MA, M.Lib.I.Sc, MFT, MCA, MBA, MTTM): Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline with the minimum aggregate; AWUET. Diploma / PGDCA: as per programme. Eligibility restricted to women candidates.

    Visit awu.ac.in for the 2026-27 admission notification with programme list, AWUET schedule and fee structure.

    Apply online for AWUET
    Register on the AWU online application portal, fill personal and academic details, upload required documents and pay the application fee.

    Sit the AWU entrance test as per the programme. MBA / MA Mass Communication candidates also attend GD and PI rounds.

    Counselling and admission
    Qualified candidates participate in AWU counselling, exercise programme preferences and confirm seat allotment by reporting to the Jorhat campus.
