About Bodoland University

Bodoland University is a state university located at Kokrajhar, headquarters of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) in western Assam, established by the Bodoland University Act, 2009 of the Assam Legislative Assembly. The university serves the Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri and adjoining districts as the principal affiliating university and was set up to promote higher education and research with a special focus on Bodo and other indigenous languages and cultures.

Bodoland University offers UG, PG, M.Phil and Ph.D programmes across arts, sciences, commerce, management (MBA), computer applications, education (B.Ed) and law. PG admission is through the Bodoland University PG Entrance Examination (typically held in July); MBA admission uses the BU MBA entrance test; B.Ed uses a separate entrance with counselling in September. Ph.D admission is through a December entrance test.

Eligibility

UG: 10+2 from a recognised board with the prescribed subject combination (UGP four-year framework). PG: Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline with the minimum aggregate; BU PG entrance / CUET PG. MBA: Bachelor's degree + BU MBA entrance / valid CAT score. B.Ed: Bachelor's degree + BU B.Ed entrance (NCTE rules). Ph.D: Master's with UGC-prescribed aggregate.

How to Apply

   Read the BU 2026 notification
   Visit buniv.edu.in for the 2026-27 admission notification with programme list, entrance schedule and fee structure.
2. 2
   Apply online for the relevant entrance
   Apply for the BU PG Entrance / MBA / B.Ed / Ph.D entrance through the BU portal as per the schedule (PG application opens 27 June; B.Ed window 1 July - 5 September).
3. 3
   Appear for the entrance
   Sit the relevant entrance test (PG in July; MBA in July; B.Ed; Ph.D in December).
4. 4
   Counselling and admission
   Participate in BU online counselling, exercise programme preferences and confirm seat allotment by reporting to the Kokrajhar campus.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for eligible candidates at this university.

BTR / Bodoland scholarships, Assam CMSS / Pragyan Bharati awards, SC/ST/OBC/EWS post-matric scholarships and Tribal Area Awards.

Reservations

Assam state reservation: SC 7%, ST(P) 10%, ST(H) 5%, OBC/MOBC 27%, EWS 10%; PwBD 5% horizontal. Special weightage for BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region) candidates.
