About Cotton College State University

Cotton University is a state university located at Panbazar, Guwahati in Assam, established by the Cotton University Act, 2017 of the Assam Legislative Assembly. The university grew out of the historic Cotton College — founded in 1901 — and was upgraded from Cotton College State University (2011) to a full unitary university in 2017.

Cotton University offers UG, PG, M.Phil and Ph.D programmes across arts, sciences, commerce, management and library science. UG admission is through CUET UG (NTA) for approximately 40% of seats, with the balance through state-quota merit. PG admission is conducted through the Cotton Post-Graduate Entrance Examination (CPGEE) for MA, M.Sc, M.Lib.I.Sc and MCA programmes.

CUET UG 2026 is being conducted from 11 to 31 May 2026 by NTA. The 2026-27 admission notification, programme list and CPGEE schedule are released on the official portal at cottonuniversity.ac.in.

UG: 10+2 from a recognised board with the prescribed subject combination plus CUET UG score (CUET-quota seats). PG: Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline with the minimum aggregate; valid CPGEE / CUET PG score. M.Tech: B.Tech / B.E. with valid GATE score. Ph.D: Master's with 55% (50% reserved); CU research entrance / NET-JRF.
