About Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit & Ancient Studies University
Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University (KBVSASU) is a state university located at Hatinamati / Namati Village, Nalbari district, Assam (PIN 781337), established by the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University Act, 2010 of the Assam Legislative Assembly and made operational in 2011. The university is named after the famous Kamarupa-king Kumar Bhaskar Varma and is dedicated to teaching, research and documentation of Sanskrit and Ancient Studies.
KBVSASU offers UG (four-year), Diploma, PG Diploma, MA, M.Phil and Ph.D programmes — graduate and postgraduate degrees in Sanskrit, and research degrees (M.Phil, Ph.D) in Sanskrit and Ancient Studies. MA admission is through the KBVRPGET (KBV Sanskrit PG Entrance Test) or CUET PG; Diploma, PGD, M.Phil and Ph.D admissions use the qualifying-examination merit and the KBVRET (KBV Research Entrance Test).
Registration for the four-year UG programmes for 2026-27 opened on 11 April 2026. The 2026-27 admission notification is published on kbvsasun.ac.in.
