About Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University
Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU) is a state open university located in Guwahati, Assam, established on 29 September 2005 by the Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University Act, 2005 of the Assam Legislative Assembly. KKHSOU is named after celebrated Assamese scholar Krishna Kanta Handiqui and serves the open and distance learning needs of Assam.
KKHSOU offers 46+ Open & Distance Learning (ODL) and Online programmes — UG, PG, Diploma, PG Diploma and Certificate — across 10 specialisations including Arts, Commerce, Computer Science, Counselling, Creative & Professional Writing, Agriculture and English. Admission is open through ABC ID + DEB ID-based registration on the official portal; no centralised entrance test is required for most ODL programmes.
For 2026-27, KKHSOU admission is open till 30 April 2026. Per-semester fees range from ₹3,850 to ₹16,500 depending on the programme. The university is NAAC-accredited (B+) and recognised by UGC-DEB. The official portal is at kkhsou.in.
