About National Law University and Judicial Academy

National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA) is a National Law University located in Guwahati, established by the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009 of the Assam Legislative Assembly. NLUJAA is the only National Law University in the North-Eastern region and is recognised as an Institute of National Importance for legal education.

NLUJAA offers a 5-year integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programme, a one-year LL.M. and a Ph.D. programme in law. Admission to BA LLB and LLM is through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT UG / CLAT PG) conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities, with subsequent CLAT counselling and university registration.

CLAT 2026 was conducted on 7 December 2025; the fourth allotment list was published on 2 May 2026. The official application portal is at nluassam.ac.in for university-side registration after CLAT counselling.

CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) UG and PG are conducted by the Consortium of NLUs for admission to BA LLB (Hons) and LLM at participating National Law Universities including NLUJAA Guwahati. CLAT 2026 was held on 7 December 2025; CLAT 2027 is expected July-December 2026.

Eligibility

BA LLB (Hons): 10+2 with 45% aggregate (40% SC/ST). LLM: LLB / equivalent law degree with 50% (45% SC/ST). Selection through CLAT score and counselling.

How to Apply

    Register for CLAT
    Create an account on consortiumofnlus.ac.in, complete the CLAT UG / PG application and pay the CLAT fee (₹4000 General; ₹3500 SC/ST/BPL).

    Appear for CLAT
    CLAT is a single offline test; CLAT 2026 was held on 7 December 2025 (10:30 AM - 2:30 PM). CLAT 2027 dates will be notified in 2026.

    NLU centralised counselling
    After CLAT result, fill NLUJAA Guwahati as a preference in the centralised CLAT counselling and lock seat through the consortium portal.

    Final admission at NLUJAA
    Allotted candidates pay the NLUJAA admission fee, complete document verification and report to the Hajo / Amingaon campus, Guwahati.

Scholarships are available for eligible candidates at this university.

NLUJAA merit scholarships, NLU Aspirant scheme, AP/NE Region scholarships, SC/ST/OBC/EWS post-matric scholarships and need-based aid.

Reservations

Assam state reservation: SC 7%, ST(P) 10%, ST(H) 5%, OBC/MOBC 27%, EWS 10%; PwBD 5% horizontal. NLUJAA additionally has Assam domicile reservation as per Consortium norms.
