About Sri Sri Anirudhadeva Sports University

Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University (SASU) is a state sports university located at Chabua in Dibrugarh district, Assam — the first sports university in the North-East — established in 2020 by an Act of the Assam Legislative Assembly. The university is named after the Vaishnava saint Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva and is set up to promote sports education, training and research in Assam and the wider North-Eastern region.

SASU offers a four-year Bachelor of Physical Education — B.P.Ed (Hons) and B.P.Ed (Hons with Research) — under the National Education Policy 2020, with exit points awarding certificate (1 year), diploma (2 years), bachelor's (3 years) and bachelor's with research (4 years). Admission to UG programmes is on the merit of past academic record, supplemented by physical fitness / sports proficiency tests as notified.

Eligibility

B.P.Ed (Hons) / B.P.Ed (Hons with Research): 10+2 from a recognised board with the prescribed minimum aggregate (per NCTE norms) plus physical fitness and sports proficiency assessment. M.P.Ed (when offered): Bachelor's in Physical Education with prescribed aggregate.

How to Apply

   Read the SASU notification
   Visit sasu.ac.in for the 2026-27 B.P.Ed admission notification with eligibility, fitness criteria and the Samarth registration timeline.
2. 2
   Register on Samarth
   Register on sasuadm.samarth.edu.in, fill personal and academic details, upload Class 12 marksheets and sports / fitness records and pay the application fee.
3. 3
   Physical fitness / sports proficiency test
   Attend the SASU physical fitness / sports proficiency test on the date notified.
4. 4
   Counselling and admission
   Selected candidates pay the admission fee and report to the Chabua campus, Dibrugarh.

Scholarships are available for eligible candidates at this university.

SASU sports merit awards, Assam Sports Department scholarships, Khelo India / SAI scholarships, SC/ST/OBC/EWS post-matric scholarships and National Scholarship Portal awards.

Reservations

Assam state reservation: SC 7%, ST(P) 10%, ST(H) 5%, OBC/MOBC 27%, EWS 10%; PwBD 5% horizontal. Sports quota and Khelo India / SAI weightage where applicable.
