About Tezpur University
Tezpur University is a public central university located on the banks of the Brahmaputra at Napaam, Tezpur in the Sonitpur district of Assam. Established by the Tezpur University Act, 1993 (Parliament of India) with the first academic session beginning in January 1994, the university serves as a major higher-education institution of the Northeast region.
The university has 4 schools — Engineering, Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Management Sciences — comprising 22 departments. It offers UG (BTech), 5-year integrated, MA, M.Sc., M.Com, MBA, MTech, B.Ed., M.Ed. and PhD programmes. Tezpur University is fully residential and has consistently featured among the top central universities in India in NIRF rankings.
Most Tezpur University UG and many PG programmes admit through CUET UG and CUET PG. The university also conducts its own Tezpur University Entrance Examination (TUEE) for select PG programmes — 70% of PG seats are filled through TUEE and 30% through CUET PG. M.Tech non-GATE seats may be filled via CUET PG. PhD admissions follow the university's own entrance plus interview.
