About Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya
Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya (IKSV) is a state university located at Khairagarh in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai district (carved out of Rajnandgaon district in 2022) of Chhattisgarh, established in 1956 by the Madhya Pradesh State Legislature — the first music university of India and Asia. The university is named after Indira Sangeet Mahavidyalaya which preceded it.
IKSV offers UG (BA, B.Music, B.Fine Arts), PG (MA, M.Music, MFA), Diploma, Certificate and Ph.D programmes in Hindustani Vocal & Instrumental Music, Carnatic Music, Tabla, Sitar, Kathak Dance, Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Manipuri, Visual Arts, Drama / Theatre and Musicology. Admission to UG and PG programmes is through audition / aptitude test plus interview, with academic-merit weightage.
