About Delhi Technological University

Delhi Technological University (DTU) is a public state university located in Bawana Road, Shahbad Daulatpur, North-West Delhi. The institution traces its origin to the Delhi Polytechnic founded in 1941 (later renamed Delhi College of Engineering, DCE) and was upgraded to a state university by the DTU Act, 2009 of the Government of NCT of Delhi. DTU is one of India's premier technical universities, ranked among the top engineering institutions in NIRF.

DTU operates 14 academic departments and several centres of excellence offering UG, PG, MPhil and PhD programmes spanning Engineering & Technology (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer, IT, Biotechnology, Polymer, Environmental, Production, Software, Mathematics & Computing, Engineering Physics, Automobile, Chemical), Applied Sciences, Management (DSM), and Humanities. DTU offers 21 B.Tech specialisations across 4-year UG programmes.

DTU B.Tech admissions are based on JEE Main scores through JAC Delhi (Joint Admission Counselling), the common counselling for DTU, NSUT, IIIT-Delhi and IGDTUW. 85% of B.Tech seats are reserved for Delhi-region candidates and 15% for outside-Delhi candidates. PG admissions go through GATE / DTU-PG entrance + JAC Delhi PG; MBA via CAT; PhD via the DTU PhD entrance.

Eligibility

B.Tech: Class 10+2 from a recognised board with PCM and English at 60%+ aggregate (55% for OBC-NCL/Defence, 50% for SC/ST/PwBD). Valid JEE Main 2026 score required. M.Tech: BE/BTech in the relevant discipline with at least 60% (55% for reserved categories) and a valid GATE score. MBA (DSM): Bachelor's with at least 60% and a valid CAT score. PhD: Master's with 60%+ and qualifying UGC-NET / GATE / DTU PhD entrance plus interview.

DTU offers Delhi Government Post-Matric scholarships for SC/ST/OBC residents, the DTU Merit Scholarship, fee concessions for Single Girl Child, the DTU Earn-and-Learn scheme, sports/co-curricular scholarships, and Government of India Post-Matric scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal.

Reservations

85% of B.Tech seats reserved for Delhi-region candidates (those who passed Class 10 and 12 from a recognised Delhi school); 15% for outside-Delhi candidates. Within each region, reservation as per Government of India norms: SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC-NCL 27%, EWS 10%, PwBD 5% horizontal. Defence-wards, sports persons and Single Girl Child supernumerary seats per the JAC Delhi brochure.
