About Indian Agricultural Research Institute
Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) is a deemed-to-be university and the country's premier institution for agricultural research, education and extension, located at Pusa Campus, New Delhi. Originally established in 1905 at Pusa, Bihar, IARI relocated to New Delhi in 1936 (after the 1934 Bihar earthquake) and was conferred deemed-to-be university status in 1958 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. IARI operates under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
IARI offers PG (M.Sc, M.Tech) and Ph.D programmes across plant breeding & genetics, agronomy, soil science, plant pathology, entomology, horticulture, agricultural economics, biochemistry, microbiology, agricultural physics, agri-business management and allied disciplines. PG admission is through the ICAR AIEEA PG Examination conducted by NTA on behalf of ICAR; Ph.D admission uses the ICAR AIU AICE-Ph.D Examination. The institute does not offer regular UG programmes.
