About Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga
Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) is a deemed-to-be university and an autonomous institute under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, located at 68, Ashoka Road, New Delhi. Originally established in 1998 as Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, MDNIY was conferred deemed-to-be university status in 2021 by the Ministry of AYUSH. MDNIY honours former Prime Minister Morarji Desai — a noted yoga practitioner — and is the apex national institute for yoga education, research and therapy.
MDNIY offers UG (B.Sc Yoga, BA Yoga), PG (M.Sc Yoga, MA Yoga, M.Sc Yoga Therapy), Ph.D, Diploma and Certificate programmes in Yoga and allied disciplines. Admission to UG and PG programmes is through the MDNIY Entrance Examination plus aptitude / interview, with weightage to demonstrated yoga proficiency. Ph.D admission uses the MDNIY Research Entrance Test plus interview.
