About Goa University

Goa University (GU) is a state university located on a 403-acre campus at Taleigao Plateau, near Panaji in North Goa, established in 1985 by the Goa University Act, 1984 of the Goa, Daman and Diu Legislative Assembly. GU is the principal affiliating university for colleges across both the North Goa and South Goa districts and is recognised under UGC Act Section 12-B with NAAC A-grade accreditation.

Goa University offers UG, PG, M.Phil, Ph.D, Diploma and Certificate programmes through 5 schools and 26 departments — covering arts, social sciences, sciences, commerce, management, technology (including 5-year integrated MA / M.Sc programmes), languages, performing arts, education and law. UG admission for 2026-27 is largely merit-based on the qualifying examination plus CUET UG (NTA) for select programmes. PG admission is through the Goa University Admission Ranking Test (GU-ART) plus CUET PG for select programmes; PG MBA / professional admissions follow programme-specific entrance / interview rounds. Engineering / pharmacy / nursing seats at affiliated colleges follow Goa CET (DTE Goa, separate from GU).

For 2026-27, UG application opened 23 March 2026 and closed 13 April 2026; PG application was extended until 5 April 2026. CUET UG 2026 is being conducted from 11-31 May 2026. The official admission portal is at unigoa.ac.in.

Eligibility

UG: 10+2 from a recognised board with the prescribed subject combination; merit / CUET UG. PG: Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline with the minimum aggregate; GU-ART / CUET PG. M.Phil / Ph.D: Master's degree with 55% (50% reserved) plus GU research entrance / NET-JRF / GATE. B.Tech / B.Pharm / B.Sc Nursing (affiliated colleges): 10+2 with PCM / PCB; Goa CET / JEE Main / NEET UG as applicable.

How to Apply

   Read the Goa University 2026 notification
   Visit unigoa.ac.in for the 2026-27 admission notification with programme list, eligibility, fee structure and entrance / GU-ART schedule.
2. 2
   Apply for the relevant entrance
   For UG: register on the GU portal (now closed for 2026-27 main rounds; check for late / spot rounds); apply for CUET UG via cuet.nta.nic.in for CUET-quota seats. For PG: register on GU portal for GU-ART; apply for CUET PG via cuetpg.nta.nic.in for select programmes. For engineering / pharmacy / nursing: apply for Goa CET on dte.goa.gov.in.

   Appear for the entrance
   Sit CUET UG (11-31 May 2026), GU-ART, CUET PG or Goa CET as scheduled.
4. 4
   Counselling and admission
   Participate in GU online counselling (university programmes) or DTE Goa centralised counselling (engineering / pharmacy / nursing); selected candidates pay the admission fee at the Taleigao Plateau campus or affiliated college.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for eligible candidates at this university.

Goa State Government scholarships, Goa Mukhyamantri Vidyarthi Krishi Yojana, Central Sector Scholarship, North-East Region scholarships (where applicable), SC/ST/OBC/EWS post-matric scholarships through NSP and GU merit awards.

Reservations

Goa state reservation: SC 2%, ST 12%, OBC 27%, EWS 10%; PwBD 5% horizontal. Goa domicile (Permanent Resident) preferred for state-quota seats; freedom-fighter / armed-forces / sportsperson horizontal quotas as per Goa Government norms.
