About Anant National University

Anant National University is a private design-focused university based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, established in 2016 through the Anant National University Act of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. Positioned as one of India's leading design universities, the institution follows its signature DesignX pedagogy — where the X represents enhancement — blending traditional design education with liberal arts, emerging technologies and hands-on community engagement to train students to become "solutionaries", graduates who address real-world problems with a solution-oriented mindset.

The university offers multidisciplinary undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes spanning design, architecture, climate action and visual arts. Its flagship Bachelor of Design (BDes) is offered with specialisations in Product Design, Interaction Design, Space Design, Communication Design, Transdisciplinary Design, Moving Image, and Sustainable Fashion & Textile Design. Other programmes include the Bachelor of Architecture, BTech in Climate Action — billed as India's only BTech engineering programme dedicated to climate-change problem-solving — Bachelor of Visual Arts, Master of Design (Integrated Product Design), a PhD in Built Environment, Creative Practices and Design Excellence, and structured Anant Fellowships in Sustainability and Climate Action.

Anant National University has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence by the Government of Gujarat and holds a 5-Star rating in the Architecture category and a 4-Star rating in the University category under the Gujarat State Institutional Rating Framework (GSIRF) 2023-24. Its 78-acre campus on the Sanand-Bavla Highway houses five academic blocks, five residential facilities, collaborative classrooms, the FutureShift AR-VR product-innovation lab, a Climate Lab, makerspace, tinkering lab, photography lab, exhibition spaces and a 24/7 on-campus infirmary. The university maintains a 5:1 student-faculty ratio with roughly 1,900 students and 400 faculty members, and has more than 60 international academic collaborations including Virginia Commonwealth University, the University of Pennsylvania, Cardiff University, Pratt University and Boston Architectural College.
