About Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University (BAOU) is a state Open and Distance Learning (ODL) university located at Jyotirmay Parisar, S.G. Highway, Ahmedabad, established in 1994 by the BAOU Act, 1994 of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. BAOU is the only state Open University in Gujarat and is named after Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar — the architect of the Indian Constitution.

BAOU offers UG, PG, Diploma, PG Diploma, Certificate and Ph.D programmes through Open & Distance Learning (ODL) and Online modes — covering arts, commerce, management, computer applications, social work, journalism, library science and Sanskrit / Gujarati / Hindi language studies. Admission is open through merit-based registration on the BAOU portal; there is no centralised entrance test for most ODL programmes.
