About Gujarat University

Gujarat University (GU) is a state university located at Navrangpura, Ahmedabad, established in 1949 by the Gujarat University Act, 1949 of the Bombay State Legislature and made operational from 1950. GU is the largest affiliating university in Gujarat with more than 425 affiliated colleges across the Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar regions and is recognised under UGC Act Section 12-B with NAAC A+ accreditation.

Gujarat University offers UG, PG, M.Phil, Ph.D, Diploma and integrated programmes through 25 schools and 32 departments — covering arts, commerce, sciences, management, law, education, languages, performing arts and journalism & mass communication. UG admission for 2026-27 is conducted through GCAS (Gujarat Common Admission Services) for general programmes; B.Tech / B.Pharm admission uses GUJCET + ACPC counselling; MBBS / BDS uses NEET UG; LLB uses CLAT or GU law entrance; PG admission uses GCAS plus CUET PG / programme-specific entrance.
