About Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University
Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University (HNGU) is a state university located at Patan in north Gujarat, established in 1986 by the HNGU Act, 1986 of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. The university is named after the famous 12th-century Jain scholar Acharya Hemchandracharya — a polymath of grammar, poetics, philosophy and mathematics — and is the principal affiliating university for colleges across the Patan, Mehsana, Banaskantha and Sabarkantha districts of north Gujarat.
HNGU offers UG, PG, M.Phil, Ph.D and Diploma programmes through 26 PG departments and more than 280 affiliated colleges across arts, commerce, sciences, management, law, education and computer applications. UG admission for 2026-27 is conducted through GCAS (Gujarat Common Admission Services); B.Tech / B.Pharm admission uses GUJCET + ACPC counselling; LLB uses CLAT or HNGU law entrance.
