About Maharaja Krishnakumarsinji Bhavnagar University
Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University (MKBU) is a state university located at Sidsar campus, Bhavnagar in Gujarat, established in 1978 by the Bhavnagar University Act, 1978 of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly and renamed in 2014 to honour Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji — the last ruler of Bhavnagar princely state who voluntarily merged his kingdom with India in 1948. MKBU is the principal affiliating university for colleges across the Bhavnagar, Amreli and Botad districts of Saurashtra.
MKBU offers UG, PG, M.Phil, Ph.D and Diploma programmes through 30 PG departments and more than 100 affiliated colleges across arts, commerce, sciences, management, law, education and computer applications. UG admission for 2026-27 is conducted through GCAS (Gujarat Common Admission Services); B.Tech / B.Pharm admission uses GUJCET + ACPC counselling; LLB uses CLAT or MKBU law entrance.
