About Sardar Patel University
Sardar Patel University (SPU) is a state university located at Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand in central Gujarat, established in 1955 by the Sardar Patel University Act, 1955 of the Bombay State Legislature. SPU is one of Gujarat's oldest state universities and is named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel — India's first Deputy Prime Minister and the architect of integration of princely states. The university is the principal affiliating university for colleges across the Anand and Kheda districts of central Gujarat.
SPU offers UG, PG, M.Phil, Ph.D, Diploma and integrated programmes through 32 PG departments and more than 200 affiliated colleges across arts, commerce, sciences, management, law, education, computer applications, technology (B.Tech via the BVM College of Engineering and others), pharmacy, agriculture and home sciences. UG admission for 2026-27 is conducted through GCAS (Gujarat Common Admission Services); B.Tech / B.Pharm admission uses GUJCET + ACPC; LLB uses CLAT or SPU law entrance.
GCAS 2026-27 application is open 7-28 May 2026 at gcas.gujgov.edu.in. The official portal is at spuvvn.edu. (TYPE corrected from private_deemed to state — SPU has always been a state university.)
