About Veer Narmad South Gujarat University
Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) is a state university located at Udhna-Magdalla Road, Surat in south Gujarat, established in 1965 by the Bombay State Legislature (then as South Gujarat University) and renamed in 2004 to honour the celebrated 19th-century Gujarati poet Narmadashankar Lalshankar Dave (Veer Narmad). VNSGU is the principal affiliating university for colleges across the Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Dang and Bharuch districts of south Gujarat.
VNSGU offers UG, PG, M.Phil, Ph.D, Diploma and integrated programmes through 30 PG departments and more than 280 affiliated colleges across arts, commerce, sciences, management, law, education, computer applications and journalism. UG admission for 2026-27 is conducted through GCAS (Gujarat Common Admission Services); B.Tech / B.Pharm admission uses GUJCET + ACPC; LLB uses CLAT or VNSGU law entrance.
