About Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) is a state university located at Kakryal, Katra in Reasi district of Jammu & Kashmir, established in 1999 by the SMVDU Act, 1999 of the J&K Legislative Assembly. SMVDU is sponsored by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and is positioned as a research-intensive technical university with strong engineering, management, sciences and humanities programmes.

SMVDU offers UG (B.Tech in CSE, ECE, ME, EE, CE, BPS), PG (M.Tech, MBA, M.Sc, MA), and Ph.D programmes through schools of engineering, management, business, philosophy, biotechnology, applied sciences, humanities and physical sciences. B.Tech admission via JEE Main + JoSAA (SMVDU participates as a GFTI); M.Tech via GATE; MBA via CAT.

B.Tech: 10+2 PCM and 75% aggregate or top 20th percentile; valid JEE Main score + JoSAA counselling. M.Tech: B.Tech / B.E. + GATE. MBA: Bachelor's + valid CAT. Ph.D: Master's with UGC-prescribed aggregate plus SMVDU Research Entrance.

How to Apply

    Appear for JEE Main / GATE
    Register on jeemain.nta.nic.in (B.Tech) or gate.iitb.ac.in (M.Tech). For Ph.D apply directly on smvdu.ac.in.

    Register on JoSAA
    After JEE Main result, register on josaa.nic.in for B.Tech centralised counselling. SMVDU participates as a GFTI.

    JoSAA counselling
    Participate in JoSAA centralised counselling, exercise SMVDU programme preferences and accept seat allotment online.
  4. 4
    Final admission
    Allotted candidates pay the SMVDU admission fee and report to the Kakryal campus, Katra.
