About Manipal Academy of Higher Education

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) is a private deemed university headquartered in Manipal, Udupi district of Karnataka. The institution traces its origins to 1953, when Dr T M A Pai founded India's first private medical school, the Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. MAHE was granted Deemed-to-be-University status in 1993 and was conferred the prestigious "Institution of Eminence" recognition by the Ministry of Education in 2020.

MAHE today educates over 35,000 students across campuses in Manipal, Mangaluru, Bengaluru and Jamshedpur (India), Dubai and Malaysia. It offers 300+ programmes spanning UG, PG, integrated, super-speciality and PhD across health sciences, engineering and architecture (Manipal Institute of Technology), management, communication, hotel management, life sciences, basic sciences, humanities, fashion and design, regenerative medicine, and online/distance learning.

B.Tech admissions to MIT Manipal, Manipal University Jaipur, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology and MIT Bengaluru are conducted through the Manipal Entrance Test (MET) — a fully online remote-proctored exam held in two phases each year. Medical and dental admissions follow NEET UG/PG; PG management uses MAT/CAT/MAH-CET; PhD admissions use the MAHE PhD entrance.

MET 2026 (Manipal Entrance Test)

MET (Manipal Entrance Test) is the primary online remote-proctored entrance for B.Tech admissions across MIT Manipal, Manipal University Jaipur, SMIT Sikkim and MIT Bengaluru. The exam consists of 60 questions covering Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English. Medical/dental admissions follow NEET UG/PG and management admissions use MAT/CAT scores per school.

Eligibility

B.Tech (MIT/MUJ/SMIT/MIT-Bengaluru): Class 10+2 from a recognised board with Physics, Mathematics and one of (Chemistry/Biotechnology/Computer Science/Biology), with at least 50% aggregate in PCM/PCB. MBBS/BDS (KMC Manipal/Mangalore, MCODS): NEET UG qualified with the cut-off rank specified. PG programmes: Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline with at least 50% (45% for SC/ST/PwBD); programme-specific entrance/score required. PhD: Master's with 55%+ and qualifying UGC-NET / GATE / MAHE PhD entrance plus interview.

MAHE offers a range of merit-based scholarships, sports/co-curricular scholarships, the Dr T M A Pai Scholarship for outstanding performers, and need-based fee concessions. MAHE Online (distance-learning vertical) has separate scholarship slabs.

Reservations

As a private deemed university, MAHE follows its own internal admission policy. SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD candidates receive eligibility relaxations and Government of India Post-Matric scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal. MAHE additionally reserves seats for foreign nationals, NRI sponsorship and CIWG (Children of Indian Workers in Gulf) per the prospectus.
