About Visveswaraiah Technological University

Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) is a state technical university located at Belgaum (Belagavi) in Karnataka, established in 1998 by the VTU Act, 1994 of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. VTU is named after Sir M. Visvesvaraya — the renowned engineer-statesman and 19th Diwan of Mysore — and is one of the largest technical universities in India with more than 200 affiliated engineering colleges across Karnataka.

VTU offers UG (B.Tech, B.Arch, BBA, BCA), PG (M.Tech, M.Arch, MBA, MCA) and Ph.D programmes through its constituent and affiliated colleges. B.Tech admission for state-quota seats is through KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) by KEA + JEE Main; out-of-state and private-college seats follow JoSAA / COMEDK; M.Tech via PGCET (Karnataka) + GATE; MBA via PGCET + CAT.

KCET 2026 conducted by KEA. JoSAA 2026 counselling on josaa.nic.in. VTU portal at vtu.ac.in.

Eligibility

B.Tech: 10+2 PCM with 45% aggregate; KCET / JEE Main / COMEDK rank. B.Arch: 10+2 PCM + NATA. M.Tech: B.Tech + GATE / PGCET. MBA: Bachelor's + PGCET / CAT / KMAT. Ph.D: Master's with UGC-prescribed aggregate.

   KEA centralised counselling for KCET state quota; COMEDK counselling for private colleges; VTU in-house for non-engineering programmes.

   Admission confirmation
   Selected candidates pay the admission fee at the allotted VTU-affiliated college.
