About Cochin University of Science & Technology
Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), established in 1971 as the University of Cochin and renamed in 1986, is a premier state-run technical and science university located at Thrikkakara, Kochi. CUSAT was originally founded as a graduate engineering institution by the Government of Kerala and has since expanded into a multi-faculty university offering engineering, science, technology, environment, marine sciences, computer applications, management and legal studies.
CUSAT has 32 departments and three campuses (Main Campus at Thrikkakara, Lakeside Campus at Kochi and Pulincunnu Campus in Kuttanad). The university is NAAC A grade accredited and ranked among the top technical universities in India by NIRF. Notable centres include the Cochin University College of Engineering Kuttanad (CUCEK), School of Marine Sciences, International School of Photonics, Department of Computer Applications and the Department of Ship Technology.
UG and PG admissions are through the Common Admission Test (CUSAT CAT) conducted annually by CUSAT. The B.Tech programme also admits a portion through JEE Main (Kerala state quota route). Select programmes accept GATE/CAT/NET. State reservation rules apply with 15% SC, 8% ST, OBC subcategories and 10% EWS.
