About Kerala Agricultural University
Kerala Agricultural University (KAU), established in 1971 (made fully operational in 1972) at Vellanikkara, Thrissur, is the principal agricultural research and education institution of the state of Kerala. KAU was formed by bringing the College of Agriculture (Vellayani, est. 1955) and the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (Mannuthy) under one university; in 2010 the veterinary college was separated into the new Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU).
KAU has eight Colleges (Agriculture Vellayani, Agriculture Padannakkad, Horticulture Vellanikkara, Forestry Vellanikkara, Co-operation Banking & Management Vellanikkara, Agricultural Engineering Tavanur, Climate Change & Environmental Sciences Vellanikkara, and the College of Agriculture Ambalavayal) plus 14 Research Stations and 14 Krishi Vigyan Kendras. It is an ICAR-accredited state agricultural university (SAU).
UG admissions (BSc Agriculture, BSc Forestry, BTech Agricultural Engineering, BSc Climate Change & Environmental Science) are through Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical (KEAM) entrance for state quota (85%) and ICAR AIEEA UG for national quota (15%). PG/PhD admissions through ICAR AIEEA PG / AICE-JRF/SRF and KAU-conducted entrances. State reservation applies for state quota.
