About APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University

APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), established in May 2015 under the Kerala Technological University Act 2015, is the state technological university of Kerala. Headquartered at CET Campus, Thiruvananthapuram, KTU was named after the 11th President of India and former DRDO chairman Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. The university affiliates virtually all engineering, architecture, planning and management colleges in Kerala (over 175 colleges).

KTU has no constituent colleges — it is purely an affiliating-and-examining technological university. The university awards B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Plan, BBA, BHMCT, MBA, M.Tech, M.Arch and PhD degrees through affiliated institutions. NAAC accredited and recognised by AICTE/COA. The university introduced a uniform B.Tech curriculum across Kerala from 2015 and revised it in 2019 and 2024.

B.Tech and B.Arch admissions for the 85% state quota are through KEAM (Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical entrance) conducted by CEE Kerala; the remaining 15% through JEE Main / NATA. M.Tech admissions through GATE (state quota counselling by KTU). MBA through KMAT/CMAT/CAT. PhD through KTU PhD entrance.
