About Kannur University
Kannur University, established in 1996 by the Kannur University Act 1996 (became operational 1997), serves the northernmost districts of Kerala — Kannur, Kasaragod and parts of Wayanad and Kozhikode. The university was created by upgrading the Kannur regional centre of the University of Calicut. Its main campus is at Mangattuparamba near Kannur with a number of academic centres including Payyannur, Thalassery, Nileshwar and Mananthavady.
The university has 35 departments offering MA, MSc, MCom, MTech, MEd, MPhil and PhD programmes, and affiliates over 100 UG colleges across the four-district region. The university is NAAC B++ accredited and recognised under UGC Section 12(B). Specialised centres include the Department of Marine Geology, the Centre for Folklore Studies and the School of Modern Indian Languages.
PG admissions through KU CAP (Kannur University Centralised Allotment Process) with entrance + Plus Two marks weighting. UG admissions to affiliated colleges through CAP based on Plus Two index marks. State reservation policy applies.
