About Sreenarayanaguru Open University
Sreenarayanaguru Open University (SGOU), established in 2020 by the SGOU Act, is the first state open university of Kerala. Headquartered at Kollam, the university was named after Sree Narayana Guru, the social reformer and philosopher of Kerala. SGOU offers Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online programmes to working professionals, dropouts and lifelong learners across Kerala.
SGOU offers UG (BA, BCom, BBA, BCA, BSc), PG (MA, MCom, MSc, MBA, MCA, MSW), MPhil, Certificate and Diploma programmes through ODL and online modes. The university has regional centres across the 14 districts of Kerala and follows UGC-DEB (Distance Education Bureau) norms. Recognised by UGC for ODL and online.
Admissions are open throughout the year (rolling admissions in two cycles — January and July). UG admissions on Plus Two pass basis; PG admissions on bachelor degree basis. No entrance for most programmes; merit-based with relaxation for SC/ST. State reservation applies.
