About Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya
Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya (DHSGSU), established on 18 July 1946 by Dr. Sir Hari Singh Gour, is one of the oldest universities in Madhya Pradesh and was originally founded as the University of Saugor. Located in Sagar, it was the seventh university in pre-independence India and was conferred Central University status by the Government of India in 2009 through the Central Universities Act 2009. The university is named after its founder, the eminent jurist and freedom fighter Dr. Hari Singh Gour.
DHSGSU has 39 departments organised into 11 schools — Arts, Social Sciences, Sciences, Mathematical & Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Education, Law and Commerce & Management. It offers UG (BA/BSc/BCom/BTech/BPharm/LLB), PG, MPhil and PhD programmes. The university is NAAC A++ accredited (Cycle 3, 2023) and ranked among the top central universities by NIRF.
Admissions are through CUET UG for undergraduate programmes (BA/BSc/BCom/BTech/BPharm/LLB), CUET PG for postgraduate programmes, and DHSGSU/CUET PhD for research. Central reservation policy applies (SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC-NCL 27%, EWS 10%, PwBD 5% horizontal).
