About Dharmashastra National Law University
Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), established in 2018 by the DNLU Act of the Madhya Pradesh state legislature, is the second NLU in Madhya Pradesh (after NLIU Bhopal). Located at Jabalpur, DNLU is the 23rd National Law University of India and a participant in the Consortium of NLUs. The university takes its name from the Hindu legal tradition of 'Dharmashastra' — the body of Sanskrit texts on law, ethics and statecraft.
DNLU offers a 5-year integrated BA LLB (Hons.), 1-year LL.M., and PhD programmes in law. The university focuses on traditional Indian jurisprudence alongside contemporary law, with specialised research areas in Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Commercial Law and Comparative Legal Systems. Recognised by Bar Council of India (BCI) and UGC.
BA LLB (Hons) admissions through CLAT UG conducted by Consortium of NLUs. LL.M. admissions through CLAT PG. PhD through DNLU PhD entrance. MP state quota of 25% within CLAT merit for Madhya Pradesh domicile candidates.
