About Jagadguru Rambhadracharya Handicapped University
Jagadguru Rambhadracharya Divyanga University (JRDU), established in 2001 by the JRDU Act of Madhya Pradesh and recognised as a deemed-to-be university in 2002, is one of the only four universities in the world dedicated exclusively to the education of persons with disabilities (Divyangjan). Located at Chitrakoot in Satna district — a sacred town associated with Lord Rama's exile in the Ramayana — the university was founded by Jagadguru Rambhadracharya, the eminent Sanskrit scholar, poet and spiritual leader who is himself visually impaired.
JRDU offers programmes exclusively for differently-abled students (visual, hearing, locomotor, mental impairments). Faculties include Sanskrit, Hindi, English, Music, Performing Arts, Education, Special Education, Computer Applications, Commerce, Management and Disability Studies. All programmes incorporate adaptive teaching methods, Braille, sign language and assistive technology. Recognised by UGC and is a unique institution in India for inclusive higher education.
Admissions through JRDU Entrance + medical certification of disability + interview. Open only to differently-abled students. Merit-based for most programmes; CUET UG/PG accepted for select departments. Full fee waiver, accommodation, and assistive technology provided.
