About Jiwaji University

Jiwaji University (JU), established in 1964 in Gwalior, is a state university named after Maharaja Jiwajirao Scindia of the Gwalior State. Located in Gwalior — the historic Scindia capital and one of the largest cities of northern MP — Jiwaji University serves the Gwalior-Chambal region (Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Sheopur, Ashoknagar, Datia, Shivpuri and Guna districts), affiliating over 200 colleges.

The university has 30 teaching departments organised into faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Sciences, Commerce, Law, Education, Engineering & Technology and Management. JU is NAAC A++ accredited (Cycle 3, 2023) — placing it among the top state universities of MP. The School of Studies in Botany and the Centre for Comparative Religions are research highlights.
