About Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education
Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE), established in 1957 as the Lakshmibai College of Physical Education and renamed in 1973 after Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi (the legendary 19th-century queen and freedom fighter), is the apex institute for physical education in India. Located at Shaktinagar, Gwalior, LNIPE was declared a deemed-to-be university under Section 3 of the UGC Act in 1995. It is fully funded by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.
LNIPE has six departments — Sports Biomechanics & Kinesiology; Exercise Physiology, Sports Nutrition & Health Sciences; Sports Psychology, Sociology & Health Education; Physical Education Pedagogy; Sports Management & Coaching; and Sports Technology. Offers BPEd (Bachelor of Physical Education), MPEd (Master of PE), PG Diploma in Sports Coaching, PG Diploma in Yoga, MPhil, PhD and various certificate programmes. Recognised by NCTE.
Admissions to BPEd, MPEd through LNIPE National Entrance Test + Physical Fitness Test. PG Diploma admissions through LNIPE-conducted entrance. PhD through LNIPE PhD entrance + interview. Sports merit quota for state/national/international medalists.
