About Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday Vishwavidyalaya
Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya (MGCGV), established in 1991 by an Act of the Madhya Pradesh state legislature (and made operational in 1993), is a unique rural development-focused state university located at Chitrakoot in Satna district. Inspired by Gandhian ideals and the principles of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay's 'Antyodaya', the university was founded by the social reformer Nanaji Deshmukh with a focus on rural development, agriculture, traditional medicine and grassroots education.
MGCGV has 8 faculties — Agriculture & Rural Development, Sciences, Social Sciences, Arts, Education, Management & Information Technology, Engineering & Technology and Ayurveda. Unique programmes include BSc Rural Development, MA Rural Development, BAMS (Ayurvedic Medicine), MEd, and a strong emphasis on village-based field work. NAAC B+ accredited.
