About Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics
Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE), established in 1930 by Servants of India Society founded by Gopal Krishna Gokhale (the moderate Indian National Congress leader and mentor to Mahatma Gandhi) — and declared a Deemed-to-be University in 1993 — is one of the oldest research institutes in social sciences in India. Located at BMCC Road, Pune, GIPE has been a leading centre for economic research, public policy and political analysis since its founding.
GIPE has 8 departments — Economics, Public Policy, International Trade & Finance, Agriculture & Rural Economics, Industrial Economics, Population Studies, Environmental Economics and Statistics. Offers MA Economics, MSc International Business, MSc Financial Economics, MSc Agribusiness Economics, MA Public Policy, MPhil and PhD. Closely associated with the Reserve Bank of India and Government economic advisory roles. NAAC A grade accredited.
Admissions through GIPE Entrance Test + interview. Strong quantitative background expected. CUET PG accepted for some programmes. PhD through GIPE PhD entrance.
