About Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya

Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya (KKSU), established in 1997 by an Act of the Maharashtra state legislature, is the state Sanskrit university of Maharashtra. Located at Ramtek in Nagpur district — the place where, according to Mahakavi Kalidasa's Meghadūta, the Yaksha was exiled (and which has historic associations with the poet Kalidasa). The university is named 'Kavi Kulguru' (poet-teacher-master) Kalidasa, the 4th-5th century CE Sanskrit poet and dramatist.

KKSU has departments of Vyakarana (Grammar), Sahitya (Literature), Vedanta, Jyotisha, Dharmashastra, Ayurveda, Yoga, Sanskrit Computing, Performing Arts, Comparative Philology and Manuscriptology. Offers Shastri (BA), Acharya (MA), Vidyavaridhi (PhD), Shiksha Shastri (BEd) and Diploma/Certificate programmes. NAAC accredited.

UG/PG admissions through KKSU-conducted entrance and merit. CUET UG/PG accepted for select programmes. PhD through KKSU PET. Traditional pathshala graduates accepted with equivalence.
