About Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth
Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV), established in 1969 at Akola in Vidarbha region, is one of the four state agricultural universities of Maharashtra. The university is named in honour of Dr. Panjabrao Shamrao Deshmukh — the freedom fighter, founder of the Shri Shivaji Education Society and Union Minister of Agriculture in the Nehru cabinet. PDKV serves the Vidarbha region (11 districts including Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Bhandara, Gondia, Washim).
PDKV has Colleges of Agriculture at Akola, Nagpur, Yavatmal, Amravati and Buldhana; College of Agricultural Engineering at Akola; College of Horticulture at Akola; College of Forestry at Akola; College of Community Sciences at Akola; and 8 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs). ICAR-accredited SAU.
UG admissions through MHT-CET (state quota 85%) and ICAR AIEEA UG (15% national quota). PG/PhD through ICAR AIEEA PG / AICE-JRF and PDKV-conducted entrances.
