About The Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University
Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), established in 1923 as Nagpur University and renamed in 2005 in honour of Sant Tukadoji Maharaj (the 20th-century Marathi spiritual leader), is one of the oldest universities in India and the principal state university of the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. Located in Nagpur — the winter capital of Maharashtra and the geographic centre of India — the university serves the Nagpur and Vidarbha region (Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia districts).
RTMNU has 41 teaching departments organised into multiple faculties — Arts, Humanities, Commerce, Sciences, Education, Law, Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy, Home Sciences, Medicine and Ayurveda. The university affiliates 500+ UG and PG colleges across Nagpur and surrounding districts. NAAC A grade accredited; recognised by UGC under Section 12(B). One of India's 11 NAAC-CGPA-evaluated state universities.
UG admissions to affiliated colleges through Maharashtra CET Cell (CET cell.mahacet.org) for professional UG courses; merit-based on Plus Two for general UG colleges. PG admissions through RTMNU PG entrance or CUET PG for select departments. PhD through RTMNU PET (PhD Entrance Test).
