About Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University

Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), established on 1 July 1989 (made operational 1990) at Nashik, is the state open university of Maharashtra and one of the largest open universities in India. The university is named in honour of Yashwantrao Chavan — the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the Deputy Prime Minister of India. YCMOU provides Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online education to learners across Maharashtra and beyond.

YCMOU offers UG (BA, BCom, BBA, BCA, BSc), PG (MA, MCom, MSc, MBA, MCA, MSW, MEd, MLib), MPhil, PhD, Certificate and Diploma programmes through ODL and online modes. The university has 8 regional centres and 4,000+ study centres across Maharashtra. UGC-DEB recognised for ODL and online. Special programmes for women, rural and tribal learners.

Admissions are rolling — two intakes annually (January and July cycles). UG admissions on Plus Two pass basis; PG on bachelor degree basis. No entrance for most programmes; merit-based with relaxation for SC/ST/PwBD.
