About Central Agricultural University
Central Agricultural University (CAU), established in 1993 by the Central Agricultural University Act 1992 (operational from 1993), is a Central University serving the agricultural education and research needs of all eight North-Eastern states of India (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura). Headquartered at Iroisemba, Imphal, Manipur, CAU is the apex agricultural university for the entire North-East region — unique in India for serving multiple states.
CAU has 13 constituent colleges spread across the North-East — Colleges of Agriculture at Imphal, Pasighat (Arunachal), Tura (Meghalaya), Kyrdemkulai (Meghalaya) and Lembucherra (Tripura); Colleges of Veterinary Sciences at Aizawl (Mizoram), Selesih (Mizoram) and Jalukie (Nagaland); Colleges of Horticulture at Bermiok (Sikkim) and Thenzawl (Mizoram); Colleges of Fisheries at Lembucherra (Tripura) and Agartala (Tripura); College of Agricultural Engineering at Ranipool (Sikkim). ICAR-accredited; recognised as a Central University.
UG admissions through ICAR AIEEA UG (the principal entrance for North-East quota for agricultural programmes). PG/PhD through ICAR AIEEA PG / AICE-JRF. State quota / NE Council quota seats are distributed across the eight NE states.
