About National Sports University
National Sports University (NSU), established in 2018 by the National Sports University Act 2018, is a Central University dedicated to sports education, research, training and the academic study of sports. Located at Khuman Lampak, Imphal, Manipur, NSU is the first national-level sports university in India and is wholly funded by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The Government chose Manipur for the sports university given the state's remarkable record in producing Olympic medalists (Mary Kom, Mirabai Chanu, Sushila Likmabam, etc.).
NSU offers BPEd (Bachelor of Physical Education), MPEd (Master of PE), MSc Sports Sciences, MA Sports Psychology, MA Sports Coaching, MBA Sports Management and PhD programmes. The university also has affiliated outreach centres at Patiala (Punjab — alongside the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports), Pune (alongside Sports Authority of India) and Sonepat. Strong focus on developing Olympic-track athletes alongside academic education.
Admissions to BPEd, MPEd through NSU Entrance + Physical Fitness Test (mandatory). Academic programmes (MSc/MA/MBA) accept Plus Two merit + NSU CET. PhD through NSU PhD entrance. Sports merit quota for state/national/international medalists.
