About William Carey University
William Carey University, Shillong (WCU), established in 2005 by an Act of the Meghalaya state legislature, is a private state university located at Rynjah, Shillong. The university is named after William Carey — the 18th-19th century British Baptist missionary, social reformer and pioneer of modern Indian education (founder of Serampore College in Bengal and translator of the Bible into multiple Indian languages). WCU is run by the Christian Education Network of India.
William Carey University has multiple schools — Engineering & Technology, Sciences, Computer Applications, Management, Education, Law, Commerce, Mass Communication, Theology and Liberal Arts. Offers UG, PG, Diploma and PhD programmes. Recognised by UGC under Section 2(f).
Admissions through WCU Entrance Test or merit on Plus Two/UG marks. JEE Main, GATE, CAT, CUET UG/PG accepted. PhD through WCU PhD entrance. Theology programmes have separate ecclesiastical admissions.
