About Nagaland University
Nagaland University, established in 1994 by the Nagaland University Act 1989 (operational from 1994), is the principal Central University of Nagaland. Headquartered at Lumami (Zunheboto district) with major campuses at Kohima (Meriema) and Dimapur, the university is the apex centre for higher education and research in the state of Nagaland. Nagaland University was established to address the higher education needs of the Naga tribal communities and to serve as a research centre for North-East studies.
Nagaland University has 41 teaching departments organised into multiple schools — Humanities & Education, Social Sciences, Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Earth Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Management Studies, Tribal & Indigenous Studies, and the Department of Tenyidie (Angami Naga language). It affiliates 65+ colleges across Nagaland. NAAC B++ accredited.
