About Biju Patnaik University of Technology
Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), established in 2002 by an Act of the Odisha state legislature (operational from 2003), is the state technological university of Odisha. Located at Chhend Colony, Rourkela (Sundargarh district — Steel City of Odisha), BPUT is purely an affiliating-and-examining technological university for all engineering, technology, pharmacy, architecture and management colleges across Odisha. The university is named after Biju Patnaik — the former Chief Minister of Odisha, freedom fighter and aviation pioneer.
BPUT has no constituent colleges — it is purely an affiliating university. The university affiliates 150+ engineering and 50+ pharmacy/architecture/management colleges across Odisha. NAAC accredited; recognised by AICTE/COA. BPUT-affiliated colleges include IIIT Bhubaneswar, NIT Rourkela-affiliated programmes (though NIT Rourkela is itself a separate central institute), and most private engineering colleges in Odisha.
B.Tech admissions through Odisha JEE (OJEE) state quota + JEE Main all-India quota with counselling by DTET Odisha; B.Pharm through OJEE; B.Arch through NATA/JEE Main Paper 2; M.Tech through GATE/OJEE-M.Tech; MBA through CAT/MAT/CMAT/OJEE-MBA; MCA through OJEE-MCA. BPUT does not conduct its own entrance — all through OJEE/JEE Main/GATE.
