About Gangadhar Meher University
Gangadhar Meher University (GMU), established in 2015 by an Act of the Odisha state legislature (continuing the legacy of Gangadhar Meher College founded in 1944), is a state university located at Amruta Vihar, Sambalpur. The university is named after Gangadhar Meher — the 19th-century Odia poet famous for his epic poems Tapasvini and Pranayalanchana. The original Gangadhar Meher College was an autonomous college in Sambalpur that was upgraded to university status in 2015.
GMU has 18 PG teaching departments organised into faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Sciences, Commerce, Education and Management. The university maintains the historic GM College heritage building. NAAC A grade accredited.
UG admissions through Odisha SAMS + GMU centralised allotment. PG admissions through GMU PG entrance or CUET PG. PhD through GMU PhD entrance.
