About Ravenshaw University
Ravenshaw University, established in 2005 by an Act of the Odisha state legislature (continuing the legacy of Ravenshaw College founded in 1868 — the oldest college in Odisha), is a state university located at Cuttack — the former capital of Odisha and the Millennium City. The university is named after Thomas Edward Ravenshaw, the British administrator who founded the original Ravenshaw College in 1868 and is credited with major contributions to Odia education and Odia language promotion.
Ravenshaw University has 31 PG teaching departments organised into 5 schools — Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences, Commerce & Management and Education. The university has the original Ravenshaw College heritage building as its iconic main building. NAAC A++ accredited (Cycle 3, 2023) — among the top state universities in India. Famous alumni include leaders, IAS officers, writers and scientists.
UG admissions through Ravenshaw University Entrance + Plus Two merit (centralised by RU itself, NOT through SAMS for in-house programmes). PG admissions through RU PG entrance or CUET PG. PhD through RU PhD entrance.
