About Baba Farid University of Health Sciences
Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), established in 1998 (operational 2002) at Faridkot, is the apex state health sciences university of Punjab. The university is named after Baba Farid (Sheikh Farid-ud-din Ganjshakar) — the 12th-century Sufi saint and one of the foundational figures of Punjabi literature and the Sikh-Sufi tradition. BFUHS regulates and conducts examinations for all medical, dental, AYUSH, nursing, pharmacy and paramedical colleges in Punjab.
BFUHS does not run colleges directly — it affiliates over 100 health colleges across Punjab — MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, B.Pharm, BSc Nursing, BPT, BOT and other allied health programmes at UG; MD/MS, MDS, M.Pharm, MSc Nursing at PG; PhD in health sciences. Recognised by Government of Punjab and accredited by NMC/DCI/CCIM/PCI/INC.
Admissions are entirely through national/state entrance examinations: NEET UG for MBBS/BDS/AYUSH and BSc Nursing, NEET PG for MD/MS, NEET MDS for MDS, AIAPGET for AYUSH PG, GPAT for M.Pharm — with state-quota counselling conducted by BFUHS itself for Punjab state seats.
