About Chandigarh University

Chandigarh University (CU) is a private state university located on NH-05 (Chandigarh-Ludhiana Highway) at Gharuan, Mohali, Punjab. Established by the Punjab State Legislature on 10 July 2012, CU is recognised by UGC under Section 2(f) and has the right to confer degrees as per Section 2(1) of the UGC Act, 1956. The university has rapidly grown into one of India's largest private universities by enrolment.

Chandigarh University offers UG, PG and PhD programmes across 16 disciplines: Engineering & Technology, Management, Computing, Cognitive Sciences, Education, Animation & Multimedia, Tourism & Hospitality, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Architecture, Commerce, Legal Studies, Agriculture Sciences, Media Studies, Liberal Arts, and Basic Sciences. CU admissions across UG and PG are conducted through the Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) — a 100-MCQ online computer-based test of 2 hours duration. CUCET (Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test) is the unified entrance for most CU UG and PG programmes. The exam is online (computer-based), 100 MCQs of one mark each, 2-hour duration. CUCET also acts as the qualifying test for CU scholarships — a high CUCET score can yield up to 100% tuition waiver. JEE Main is accepted for B.Tech as an alternative; CLAT for LLB; CAT/MAT/CMAT for MBA.

Eligibility

B.Tech: Class 10+2 with PCM at 60%+ and a valid CUCET / JEE Main score (relaxation for reserved categories). UG (BBA, BCom, BCA, BA, BSc, BDes, integrated): 10+2 with at least 50–60% as per programme. MBBS/BDS: NEET UG qualified (admissions to CU's allied medical/dental partner colleges). LLB (5-year integrated): 10+2 with at least 45–50% and CUCET / CLAT score. MBA: Bachelor's with at least 50% and a valid CUCET / CAT / MAT / CMAT score. PhD: Master's with 55%+ and qualifying UGC-NET / GATE / CU PhD entrance plus interview.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for eligible candidates at this university.

CU offers scholarships totalling INR 250 crore for AY 2026-27. Top CUCET scorers are eligible for up to 100% tuition waiver. Additional scholarships for sports persons, NCC cadets, defence wards, single girl child and need-based candidates are also available; SC/ST/OBC/EWS students can avail Post-Matric scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal.

Reservations

As a private state university, CU follows its own internal admission policy. SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD candidates receive eligibility relaxations and Government of India Post-Matric scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal. Specific reservations for sons/daughters of CU employees, sports persons, NCC cadets, defence wards and J&K migrants per the CU prospectus.
